Learn how the economies and societies of newly minted “emerging markets” such as Turkey, South Korea, and Brazil can suffer from the whims of footloose global finance—and how some emerging markets are successfully fighting back. Thursday, September 25, 2014 7-9pm Register today http://bit.ly/turkeybu Radisson Blu Bosphorus Hotel Pupa Terrace Ortaköy, 34349 Istanbul, Turkey Join Kevin P. Gallagher, associate professor in the BU Pardee School of Global Studies, for a discussion of the transformations that shape emerging markets in the twenty-first century. Gallagher co-directs BU’s Global Economic Governance Initiative and co-coordinates the Pardee School’s Global Development Program. He is the author of the forthcoming book Ruling Capital: Emerging Markets and the Reregulation of Cross-border Finance. He serves on the US Department of State's Advisory Committee for International Economic Policy, is co-chair of the Pardee Task Force on Regulating Capital Flows for Long-run Development, and writes frequently for the Financial Times and The Guardian newspapers.
