GMS OPDPA Professional Development Seminar: Presentation for Public Speaking

The OPDPA Professional Development Series aim to provide the postdocs and Ph.D. students with information and resources and to exchange of ideas and the intellectual enrichment of the trainees’ community.• Does your job require you to speak or present in front of your colleagues? • Would you rather jump out of a plane than speak in front of people? • Do you feel that you know and understand your material, but nervousness underminesyour ability to communicate it? You will learn about voice tone and variation, body language and movement, gesturing, face expression, and appearance. Audience participation encouraged.Amanda’s experience, wisdom and creative technique have helped many people focus on what they like about their work and their research when they present. Her instinctive ability to grasp what works and what doesn’t in a presentation is invaluable.Speaker’s Bio: Amanda is a public speaking coach and has helped to empower scientists, businessmen and women, lawyers and artists. Amanda received her MFA in Acting from the Actors Studio Program at the New School.
