Music for Food presents its first Boston University concert with the Triple Helix Piano Trio

The Triple Helix Piano Trio makes its Music for Food (MFF) debut on Tuesday, April 1 at the Tsai Performance Center, marking MFF’s first concert at Boston University. The program explores the development of subjectivity and an increasing fascination with psychic processes in rarely heard works by Schumann (Fantasiestücke, op. 88) and Brahms (Trio in A Major), as well as Dvorak’s beloved “Dumky” Trio. Audience members may donate to Music for Food on behalf of The Women’s Lunch Place, a safe, welcoming day community for all self-identified women who are experiencing homelessness or poverty (www.womenslunchplace.org) About Music for Food Music for Food is a musician-led initiative for local hunger relief founded in 2010 by Grammy-award winning violist Kim Kashkashian. Concerts raise funds and resources to foster awareness and fight against hunger, empowering musicians of all ages who wish to use their artistry to further social justice. To date, Music for Food has provided nearly 100,000 meals to those in need through the collaborative efforts of artists, audiences, and hunger relief organizations, with concerts in Boston, as well as California, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. (www.musicforfoodboston.org) About the Triple Helix Piano Trio When the award-winning and internationally known Triple Helix musicians—violinist Bayla Keyes, cellist Rhonda Rider, and pianist Lois Shapiro—joined together in 1995, The Boston Globe described the results of their union as “the livest live music in town,” with “wildly imaginative, emotionally charged, virtuoso playing” that was “sophisticated in musical detail, wholeheartedly interactive, uninhibited in emotion, and touched by a special grace.” Subsequently, the ensemble has become known as one of the best piano trios on today’s musical landscape.
