Title: Applied Data Science: Extracting Maximum Value from Real-World Data. Abstract: This talk is about extracting maximum value from the real-world data using modern statistical and machine learning techniques. Real-world data is diverse, messy, and spread out across many data sources. Extracting maximum value equates to using the data to make the most accurate predictions possible on out-of-sample examples. The talk will focus on a single case study in which we predict diabetes inundiagnosed patients using their medical records. The dataset comes from a Kaggle competition sponsored by Practice Fusion: http://www.kaggle.com/c/pf2012-diabetes.
