Romanticism and Artists, with Jonathan Ribner
This lecture series explores European Romanticism, an era of high creativity in which artists, writers, and musicians were certain of nothing, except in the words of English Romantic poet John Keats: “The holiness of the heart’s affections and the truth of imagination.” Professor Jonathan Ribner of Boston University’s Department of the History of Art & Architecture will introduce you to major Romantic artists from France, Britain, Germany, and Spain. Among the artists to be discussed are the acclaimed painters Goya, Delacroix, Turner, and Friedrich.
