Hugo Shong Awards Luncheon
Created by a gift from Hugo Shong (COM ’87), the Hugo Shong Reporting on Asia Award for 2013 will be presented to William Wan, China Correspondent for The Washington Post. Wan is awarded for displaying the highest standards of international print journalism in a series of reports on matters of importance specific to Asia. In 2013, Wan's reporting provided readers with an oft-missing element in the volumes of coverage that emerges annually from China, specifically empathetic reporting into the human dimensions of daily life in that vast nation. By receiving the award, Wan joins a group of distinguished journalists that includes David Barboza (The New York Times), Jeremy Page (The Wall Street Journal), Carlotta Gall (The New York Times), and Peter Goodman (formerly of The Washington Post). BU students and faculty can attend the luncheon for free; however, must RSVP by Wednesday, March 26 to Lisa Cohen at lisann@bu.edu.
