Social Justice, Liberalism and Philanthropy: An Investigation Into the Tensions and Limitations of Charitable and Community Foundations in the UK
The Boston University Sociology Seminar Series welcomes Professor Balihar Sanghera, a visiting faculty member from Kent University. His talk is titled “Social Justice, Liberalism and Philanthropy: An Investigation into the Tensions and Limitations of Charitable and Community Foundations in the UK." His talk draws from his current research, which examines the ethical dimensions of charitable giving and philanthropic foundations in the UK, investigates how British individuals from working- and middle-class backgrounds morally frame donations, and explores how philanthropic foundations understand and identify social justice causes. This event is brought to you by the BU Sociology Seminar Series, as part of International Education Week, a university-wide celebration of BU's global engagement.
