A leading authority on the sociology of work, his many publications include books published by Yale, Oxford and SUNY Presses and articles in the American Journal of Sociology, American Sociological Review, Social Problems, Theory and Society, and Sociology. His latest monograph is entitled "Work: A Critique" (Polity Press, 2012).
