BU Speaks 2013: A Tribute to Howard Zinn

It is undeniable that Howard Zinn's legacy lives on at Boston University. You can hear it in the voices of BU students calling for an end to war, sanctions, and occupation. Feel it within the walls of the Center for Gender, Sexuality, and Activism. Find it on the pages of Zinn's classic book "A People's History of the United States." It is up to us as students, activists, and human beings to hold tight to this spirit of resistance and pass it forward to future generations because, in the words of Howard Zinn, "dissent is the highest form of patriotism." In this spirit, please join BU Anti-War Coalition for an evening of celebrating the life of beloved BU professor, academic, activist, and "irrepressible optimist" Howard Zinn. We will be performing the speeches, poems, and songs of those voices silenced by traditional history books as documented by Zinn in "Voices of a People's History of the United States". Come hear the words of Emma Goldman, Malcolm X, and Eugene Debs, and others brought to life in an interactive and inspirational performance. We hope to see you there! Doors open @ 6:30pm Tickets will be sold beforehand in the GSU as well as at the door. There will be a sliding scale, so everyone should feel free to pay what they can. We recommend $5. All proceeds will go to the Zinn Education Project.
