BTI Choirfest
Boston’s ten seminaries and schools of theology are partnering together in a “Choirfest” in recognition of the week of World Interfaith Harmony and in light of the pioneering work of The Common Word Initiative. They will be joined by the Islamic Noor Ensemble for Spiritual Music in this unique Boston area performance. Organized by the ecumenical and interfaith Boston Theological Institute (BTI), the performance will take place at Boston University’s Marsh Chapel with a welcome from the Dean of the BU School of Theology, Mary Elizabeth Moore. This pioneering performance will begin on February 5 at 7:00 PM with a reception to follow. Each BTI school will provide a choir or soloist. Several will have CDs available for purchase, such as soloist Sujin Park of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, The Byzantine Choir of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, and the choir of Saint John’s Seminary. The World Interfaith Harmony Week (WIFHW) and the The Common Word Initiative which it celebrates, was initiated at the United Nations in 2007 and calls for religious leaders to engage in a dialogue based on the two common fundamental religious Commandments; Love of God, and Love of the Neighbor, without compromising their own religious tenets. For further information, contact the Boston Theological Institute at 617-527-4880; btioffice@bostontheological.org with details on the website: www.bostontheological.org.
