Bay Area "Favorite Poem Project" with Robert Pinsky (San Francisco)
Join Professor Robert Pinsky, 39th Poet Laureate of the United States, as he hosts the Favorite Poem Project for BU alumni in the Bay Area. Guests will be treated to an evening with some of Boston University’s most distinguished alumni in the Bay Area, as they read their favorite poems. The Favorite Poem Project is dedicated to celebrating, documenting, and encouraging poetry’s role in Americans’ lives. This program will feature members of the BU community as they share their own treasures, the poems they love, with our alumni, parents and friends. The project has inspired hundreds of Favorite Poem readings in cities and towns across the country. These readings gather individuals from different corners of a single community to share their favorite poems with each other, revealing personal ties to specific poems. One of the pleasant surprises of the project has been how beneficial these readings seem to be for the communities that host them.
