OVERWiNTER w/ APiSOCIAL SATURDAYS: presented by FESTOONiNG // The Inflatable Beehive: Urban Hex // Honeybees & Community in the Urban Landscape
In an attempt move beekeeping away from a dominant industrial realm and restore the potential for biodiversity; urban beekeeping has taken a spotlight. Urban Hex will examine the importance of community, urban agricultural spaces, and mentorship in cities stretching from Massachusetts to the Netherlands. Beekeepers representing Leland Street Community Garden (Sadie Richards + Addy Smith-Reiman + Kathleen Robinson), Golden Rule Honey (Herboldsheimer + Stiglitz), BU Beekeepers, and very special guests BEE COLLECTIVE (Netherlands) will discuss their individual approaches to keeping urban hives and how this impacts their various communities.
