Health Policy Institute Seminar Series
Examining the AHRQ Patient Safety Indicators in the Veterans Health Administration This BU Health Policy Institute seminar will examine the Patient Safety Indicators (PSIs) that were developed by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) to screen for potential safety events that occur in the acute-care setting. We will discuss issues related to patient safety measurement, and how the PSIs were a significant development in this field. We will focus our discussion on a VA funded grant that examined the validity of the PSIs through secondary databases, chart review, and site visits. We will also briefly talk about areas for improvement within the patient safety measurement field.
