Creating Your Individual Development Plan, Part II: Setting Goals for Scientific & Career Success

You may have a sense for what career path you hope to follow… but how will you get yourself there? How do you continue to move your research agenda forward, while also finding the time to work on other critical aspects of your career development? In this hands-on workshop, you will refine your own unique Individual Development Plan (IDP)—a career-planning strategy endorsed by the NIH and various scientific societies. Using the new online tool “myIDP” as a framework, you will learn how to set achievable goals, improve your own particular professional skills, and engage mentors in your career development. Taught by Cynthia Fuhrmann, co-author of myIDP, this interactive workshop includes small-group discussion that will help you optimize your plan and minimize barriers to success.
