Screening and Discussion of the Film "Crossing Borders"

"Crossing Borders” is a feature documentary film that follows four Moroccan and four American university students as they travel together through Morocco and, in the process, discover more about themselves. With group travels and frank discussions, the students confront the complex implications of the supposed "clash of civilizations" between Islam and the West. The relationships formed through shared experiences contrast sharply with the media-shaped views that Americans and Muslims often have of each other. Humor, honesty and a willingness to be challenged bring individuals closer to each other and the relationships that develop disarm hidden stereotypes. "Crossing Borders" has received honors at numerous international film festivals. Join us to view the film and then stay to contribute to a cross-cultural dialogue facilitated by BU faculty and staff. This event is brought to you by the International Students and Scholars Office (ISSO), as part of International Education Week, a university-wide celebration of BU's global engagement.
