Comparative Premodern Studies Workshop: Courts as Contact Zones
Two lectures will be presented on the theme of "Courts as Contact Zones." The first will be given by Wiebke Denecke and is entitled, "Catachresis and Comparing the Incomparable: Sino-Japanese and Greco-Roman Perspectives." The second will be by Eugenio Menegon, entitled, "A Clash of Court Cultures: Papal Envoys in Early Eighteenth-Century Beijing."
