Dr. Demidov's current research is focused on gene-targeted drugs, DNA diagnostics, peptide nucleic acid (PNA), rolling-circle amplification (RCA), fluorescent proteins, tracking RNA in vivo, RNA modeling and environmental monitoring.

His other interests include scientific journalism, intellectual property/patent priority issues, history of life sciences and related topics.
