The Boston Globe highlights BWHS study on vehicle emissions and diabetes

1/9/2012 – The Boston Globe summarizes a new BWHS study that examines a possible link between air pollution and diabetes, showing that women exposed to higher levels of vehicle emissions had an increased risk of diabetes. Could emissions be a cause of diabetes? The BWHS will continue researching environmental effects on diabetes and other health issues to help answer this and other questions. The original research article on air pollution and diabetes was published in the Jan 4 online issue of the journal Circulation.

BWHS co-investigator Yvette Cozier featured in radio segment on diabetes

1/17/2012 – Radio show “Radio Boston” features segment titled “ArtsEmerson Puts Diabetes, The African-American Experience On Stage.” In this segment, BWHS co-investigator Yvette Cozier and Emerson College professor and playwright Robbie McCauley discuss diabetes in light of McCauley’s one-woman play “Sugar.” (Click on “Listen Now”  near the top of the page to hear the broadcast; Dr. Cozier is introduced at 10 minutes and 48 seconds.)
