AACORN was founded in 2002 by BWHS Advisory Board member Shiriki Kumanyika, PhD. Dr. Kumanyika is an African American public health and nutrition researcher and professor of epidemiology at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine.
Hear a message from Sylvia Tyree. She is a breast cancer advocate and past president and board member of the organization Sisters Conquering Cancer, a Virginia-based non-profit that works to increase cancer awareness in African American communities. She is also a BWHS participant.
