Business Intelligence (BI)
Technologies, applications, and practices for the collection, integration, analysis, and presentation of business information, and sometimes the information itself. The purpose of business intelligence is to support better business decision making.
Business Owners
Senior-level staff responsible for policy, administration, and oversight of the functional areas being addressed in BPO, i.e., Budget, Provost Offices, Financial Affairs, Human Resources, Payroll, and Sourcing and Procurement.
Business Process Optimization (BPO)
An approach aimed at improvements by means of elevating efficiency and effectiveness of the processes within and across organizations. The key to BPO is to look at business processes from a "clean slate" perspective and determine how to best construct these processes to improve how business is conducted.
Change Management
This term has several definitions that depend on the context in which it's used. With respect to BUworks, it references the task of managing change in a systematic fashion.
Chart of Accounts
Chart of Accounts is a list of all General Ledger (G/L) accounts used by one or several company codes. For each G/L account, the chart of accounts contains the account number, account name, and the information that controls how an account functions and how a G/L account is created in a company code.
Component Business Modeling (CBM)
A methodology for identifying, analyzing, and viewing from multiple perspectives the basic building blocks of designated business functions. CBM is used to provide insight into business processes for which an optimization effort may provide the most value.
