The Nursing Archives Associates presents their annual meeting with talk by Dr. Jeanette Ives Erickson
Tonight The Nursing Archives Associates at Boston University and the Boston University Alumni Association will host their annual meeting with guest speaker Dr. Jeanette Ives Erickson, (RN, DNP, FAAN) for her talk The Evolution and Revolution in Patient Care. A graduate of Boston University Graduate School of Nursing, Dr. Erickson is Senior Vice President for Patient Care and Chief Nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital.
The event will also feature the inaugural presentation of the Nursing Archives Associates Mary Ann Garrigan Award to honor outstanding professional achievement in nursing. The meeting will take place in the first floor auditorium of the School of Management at 5:30 p.m.
The History of Nursing Archives contains an extensive book collection, as well as the personal and professional papers of nursing leaders; records of educational institutions, public health groups, and nursing organizations; and histories of various American and foreign schools of nursing. The books and manuscripts in the History of nursing Archives document the evolution and contribution of the nursing profession in the fields of public health and military history.
BU’s Alumni Association is kicking off its brand new learning program BU Alumni College this summer. Alumni College is a stand-alone program designed to empower alumni through immersive educational experiences.
The inaugural Alumni College is called Sustainability in the City, which involves learning experiences where expert faculty from the College of Arts & Sciences will address critical and practical sustainability questions by way of lectures, field trips, lab experiences and classroom discussions. Other events include a trip to the New England Aquarium and a Sunset Harbor Cruise.
Registration for on-campus housing ends TODAY, May 27, and regular registration ends June 3.
Each April, the Alumni Association & Community Service Center team up to host and organize the Global Day of Service for BU community members. In 2010 3,736 GDS volunteers performed 14,971.5 hours of service in 43 cities. Service sites are set up around the world, providing a cohesive and organized global effort to further the ethic of service encouraged and demonstrated by the BU family. Busy that day? The BU Alumni Association is kicking off their annual WinterFest weekend tonight. This year features family-friendly programming like an ice hockey game with tailgating, a BU Quidditch match, ice sculpting, ice skating and sessions with some of BU’s most distinguished faculty.
