With 2011 behind us, we’re looking back on some of the distinguished visitors to the Boston University campus.

Captain Charles Moore of the Algalita Marine Research Foundation visited Boston University to present on his discovery of the Pacific Ocean Garbage Patch in 1997. He also discussed his book, Plastic Ocean: How a Sea Captain’s Chance Discovery Launched a Determined Quest to Save the Oceans, on November 9:

With 2011 behind us, we’re looking back on some of the distinguished visitors to the Boston University campus.

The Robert Lowell Memorial Lecture, which pairs a poet with a recent graduate of the Creative Writing Program, welcomed former U.S. poet laureate and Pulitzer Prize winner Kay Ryan and alumna Katherine Hollander (GRS’06, ’14), introduced by three-time U.S. poet laureate and BU professor Robert Pinsky, on April 25:
