Join the BU Film Society as we screen our Cinema? Series of two films that both redefine the medium: Close Up and F for Fake. First, Abbas Kiarostami's Iranian film Close Up (1990) questions "What is a Documentary?" when Ali Sabzian cons a well-to-do family in Tehran into thinking he is a famous director and that he will cast them in his next film. The actual people involved in the incident re-enact the actual events, followed by the footage from the actual trial that took place, where Sabizan defends his love of cinema. Philosophy of Film professor, Aaron Garrett, will introduce the film and hold a Q&A based on his research. The event counts toward the Cinematheque Alternative assignment.
