Jeffrey Stark, director of Research and Studies at the Foundation for Environmental Security and Sustainability (FESS) and the 2013 Gijs van Seventer Lecturer in Environmental Health, will discuss the relationship between climate change and security. Factors linking climate change and the potential for conflict include powerful threats to human security, such as land degradation, water and food scarcity, unplanned migration, and disease. This seminar examines the relationship between climate change and security, presenting research from Uganda, Ethiopia, and Peru investigating the potential for climate change-related instability and conflict.
