You are cordially invited to attend the symposium and discussion Catholic Vocations in a Time of Change this Thursday, March 21 at 5 PM. This event includes presentations by Dr. Anthony Petro of the Department of Religion, Fr. Daniel Hennessey of the Archdiocese of Boston, Dr. Basil Considine of the Department of Music, and Susan Troy of the School of Theology. Topics will include the Catholic Church's response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic, challenges and opportunities in Catholic clerical (priestly) vocations today, the evolution of the Catholic Church as a patron to musicians, and the growth of lay spiritual direction in the 20th and 21st centuries. The symposium and discussion will take place between 5 and 6:30 PM and will be preceded by an informal food and fellowship gathering from 4-5 PM. The event is entirely free and open to the public, and food and drink will be provided. Interested students and faculty are welcome to attend either or both portions of the event as their schedules permit. The event takes place at BU's School of Theology (745 Commonwealth Ave / BU Central T Stop) in the Oxnam Room (Room B-24, in the basement). The discussion will be moderated by Profs. Hee An Choi and Claire Wolfteich of the BU School of Theology, and is sponsored by the Anna Howard Shaw Center and Office of Community Life and Lifelong Learning at STH.
