Join us for Boston University’s Alumni Fest in Germany on October 12–13! This October pack your bags and escape to Germany for a weekend of culture, conversation, and socializing. Catch up with fellow Boston University alumni as you explore the city of Munich. The weekend kicks off at the historic Hofbräuhaus beer hall on Friday night. On Saturday switch gears and spend the afternoon at the fascinating BMW Museum. That evening, attend a lecture on the U.S. presidential election with College of Communication Dean Thomas Fiedler before capping off the night at the trendy Munich bar Heart. Here’s what’s in store: Friday, October 12 7 p.m. BU Alumni Gathering at Hofbräuhaus Seating is limited. Registration is required ( Please note that food/drink costs are not included. Nothing says Munich like Hofbräuhaus! Kick off your weekend with fellow BU alumni at this world-famous beer hall, founded in 1589 by the Duke of Bavaria. Saturday, October 13 1 p.m. Visit to the BMW Museum Space is limited. Registration is required ( Admission is complimentary. Join fellow alumni at the BMW Museum, which, according to Fodor’s, “contains not only a dazzling collection of BMWs old and new but also items and exhibitions relating to the company's social history and its technical developments.” 6 p.m. Conversation with Dean Thomas Fiedler Munich Marriott Hotel Cost: $30 (Register by September 20 to get the $25 early bird rate!) Registration required ( Reception to follow. Food and drinks included in admission. The U.S. presidential election is less than a month away. Join us as BU College of Communication Dean Thomas Fiedler discusses ten keys to making sense of it all. He’ll analyze elements such as critical states, key voting blocs, campaign strategies, and the impact of new and emerging media. A former political columnist and executive editor of the Miami Herald, Fiedler received the Society of Professional Journalists’ top award for his coverage of the 1988 presidential election. As a visiting lecturer and fellow at Harvard University, he investigated the impact of the internet on the presidential primary system and taught a graduate course on the intersection of media, politics and public policy. 9 p.m. Alumni Gathering at Heart Heart Restaurant & Bar Registration required ( Please note that food/drink costs are not included.
