Project Hope stems from a long-time interest in the CSC in HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention. [...]Previous programs in the 1980s and 1990s involving AIDS include the Children’s AIDS Program and the AIDS Support and Advocacy Program.
Project Hope offers students an opportunity to become more involved in HIV/AIDS awareness, prevention and care. Volunteers show compassion, gain understanding and educate others about HIV and AIDS. The program works with various organizations in the Greater Boston area that provide essential services to those at risk or HIV positive, including Cambridge Cares About AIDS, SPARK, AIDS Action Committee and Community Servings.
In addition to service, volunteers assist with World AIDS Week, which occurs around World AIDS Day on December 1st.
Time commitment is 2-3 hours per week for an entire semester. No previous experience with HIV/AIDS programs is required. Volunteers will be assigned a site based on their availability and volunteer with a group of other BU students.
