The Sixth Annual Meredith E. Drench Lecture
"My Personal Journey: From the Bedside to the Halls [...]of Congress"
Karen A. Daley, PhD, RN, FAAN, shared her journey from clinical nurse to patient and advocate as a result of a career-ending needle stick injury. Currently president of the American Nurses Association, Daley discussed the importance of caring for patients holistically from the perspective of both caregiver and health care consumer.
Focusing on the psycho-social aspects of rehabilitation, the College's first endowed lecture series was established by alumna Dr. Meredith E. Drench to share her passion and belief in the "compassionate rehabilitation" of the whole person.
