Two degrees are offered: a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Science and a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Analysis and Policy. Students in both concentrations are prepared for graduate study in a variety of fields, as well as for environmental and natural resource careers in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors at the local, national, and international levels. For specific degree requirements, course descriptions, and special programs in the environment, see the Geography and Environment section of this site.

BA/MA Degree Programs

Students in the environmental science and environmental analysis and policy concentrations have the opportunity to pursue both a BA and an MA offered through the Center for Energy and Environmental Studies as one coherent plan of study. This program generally allows the student to receive both the BA and the MA in five years or less. Two programs are offered:

  • BA/MA in Energy and Environmental Analysis
  • BA/MA in Environmental Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems

Students must apply to the program before March 1 of their junior year and must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher through the end of their junior year. Requirements include completion of a minimum of 38 courses, of which 10 must be at the graduate level. Graduate courses must be completed with a grade of B– or better. A plan of study must be developed by the student and approved by the Director of Graduate Studies. For more information, contact the Associate Director of Undergraduate Programs or the Program Administrator. Please refer to Special Courses and Programs under College of Arts and Sciences on this site for general information about BA/MA programs.
