Minor Concentration in Business Administration and Management

The minor concentration in business administration is designed for the College of Arts and Sciences student who wants a general introduction to the concepts and functions of management. The student is required to have completed CAS EC 101 Introductory Microeconomic Analysis and CAS EC 102 Introductory Macroeconomic Analysis. Courses in mathematics and computer science are recommended, but not required.

The courses required for the minor concentration are as follows:

SMG SM 299 Management as a System (Intensive)

SMG AC 221 Financial Accounting

SMG AC 222 Managerial Accounting

SMG OB 221 The Dynamics of Leading Organizations

SMG SM 221 Probabilistic and Statistical Decision Making for Management

Note: SMG SM 299 is a prerequisite for all other SMG courses in the minor. SMG AC 221 is a prerequisite for SMG AC 222. Students who began at the School of Management and subsequently transferred to the College of Arts and Sciences may substitute the two-course sequence SMG SM 121 and SM 122 for SM 299.

Students must receive a grade of C– or higher in each course taken toward the concentration, including CAS EC 101 and EC 102. Students must take five courses in the School of Management to fulfill the minor concentration's residency requirement. For further information, contact the SMG Undergraduate Program Office.
