Minor: 4 courses

Languages:
First language before registration for seventh course.
Second language before qualifying exams.

Qualifying exams:
All in one semester, the first year after completion of coursework.

Prospectus: April 1.

First draft of dissertation: September 1.

Final copy of dissertation:
Three weeks before scheduled defense.
(Students must supply ten copies of 1,500-word abstract.)

Last day for oral defense:
Fourth Friday before Commencement.
