Compliance Requirements for Students

All students at Boston University must be in compliance with BU Alert/Send Word Now contact telephone number, immunization, and payment requirements.

Boston University requires that every incoming student (freshman, transfer, or graduate) have a physical examination by a licensed practitioner and be immunized against the following common communicable diseases: measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), tetanus, hepatitis-B, and (bacterial) meningitis. The Universitys policy is in compliance with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, which requires that all full-time undergraduate and graduate students and all full-time or part-time international students submit proof of immunization. For international students, this requirement is of special importance; if you fail to comply with this requirement, you may be prohibited from attending classes, which could also cause you to violate your immigration status. Please note that part-time, non-international SPH students are not required to submit proof of immunization status. Students who do not meet this requirement within seven (7) days of the start of the semester in question will be out of compliance and blocked from registration.

All students, regardless of program or degree status, must provide a BU Alert/Send Word Now contact telephone number in order to register for classes. Continuing students who have previously provided a BU Alert/Send Word Now contact telephone number must update and confirm their BU Alert/Send Word Now contact telephone number every semester to stay in compliance.

All students must meet the relevant payment deadlines for the semester or they will be subject to late fees.
