The School of Law Bulletin

Message from the Dean

BU Law is not only a great school but also a great community. Our faculty, alumni and student body—unmatched in intelligence, energy and ability—make BU Law a rich and rewarding place to learn.

As The Princeton Review put it, BU professors rock! They are exceptional legal minds. They love to teach, and they love to match wits with students, in class and out.

At BU Law, you can prepare for the future you want. Few schools match the breadth and depth of our curriculum. You can focus on one of five areas of concentration or cross-register in other BU schools. You can work on one of our six journals. You can learn foreign law through our study-abroad programs. You can serve the public interest in our pro bono program. And you can immerse yourself in clinical programs that develop practical legal skills.

You will join and learn from a truly diverse community. Our students come from wide-ranging backgrounds, pursue a variety of interests and bring myriad aspirations to BU Law.

You will launch your career with the support you need. We will help you plan for the career of your choice, meet prospective employers and make the connections you need. BU Law’s expansive alumni base, a vital part of BU Law’s community, generously gives time to mentor students and often hires them as well.

You will join a long legacy of distinguished leaders in the law. For over 130 years, BU Law graduates have assumed leading positions in private practice, public service, government and industry—throughout the country and around the world. Our graduates include federal judges, law firm partners, members of Congress, corporate directors, district attorneys, state governors, state attorneys general and company presidents. We are proud of this tradition of leadership—and you will be proud of it, too.

And you’ll have fun. There’s a positive buzz on campus and off. We work hard and we play hard. Besides diverse campus activities, you can take advantage of great opportunities for music, culture, nightlife and sports in Boston.

We care about your success from the moment you join us, throughout your time in the Law School and well beyond. We look forward to welcoming you to the BU Law community.

Maureen A. O’Rourke, Dean
