Message from the Director
It's my pleasure to introduce you to Boston University and its School of Law. Boston University is a major international center of learning. Many of its Schools and departments—including the School of Law— are among the best in their fields. Faculty members are recognized worldwide not only for extraordinary academic achievement but also for unparalleled teaching excellence. And of course, we are located in the historic city of Boston—home to more than sixty colleges and universities, a rich cultural life, championship sports teams, and some of the most beautiful cityscapes in the world—a wonderful place to live and learn. Our nationally renowned Graduate Tax Program, established in 1959, was one of the first of its kind in the nation. It continues to be one of the best. The relatively large size of our Program makes it possible for us to offer a curriculum that’s truly extraordinary in its breadth and depth, allowing students to concentrate their study of tax law, if they wish, in specific practice areas. The Program has produced distinguished practitioners, judges, and scholars, many of whom are quite outspoken about the benefits they derived from the Program. Indeed, our adjunct faculty includes several Program graduates. I invite you to learn more about this truly excellent Program and how it offers an outstanding forum for studying and mastering the challenging issues posed by current tax law. This bulletin will provide you with an overview of the Program, as well as details of our faculty, courses, and degree requirements. In the back, you will find a Program application, additional forms, and instructions for applying. If you have questions about the Program, or about admissions standards and procedures, please do contact us.
