The robot we have made is a shooter-bot. This is the first year that our robot is not at maximum height, because, when it was, the robot was unable to go over the bump or balance on the bridge. So, two days before Bag and Tag day we took 12 inches of the robot. Currently, our robot can go over the bump, tip down the bridge, balance on it, pick up balls, get them to shooter through the conveyor belt, turn the shooter, and shoot the balls.
The highlight of the robot is the shooter. It can shoot up to 40 ft, and can even make shots from the opposing alliance’s side.
We have finished a prototype ball pickup mechanism (which is complicated by the 4+” off the ground requirement for any scoop-like mechanism). It involves a roller at the front of the robot.
We are also working on the shooter. We will make a turret that will allow it full 360 degree rotation. We are still playing around with different motors, gear ratios, and wheels (both size of and number), but we have a prototype:
