Wykeham Studentships


wykehamThere is a unique opportunity for a Boston University senior who qualifies to teach for a year at a prestigious boys' school in Winchester, England in the 2007-08 academic year. This is called the "Wykeham Studentship."

The position, which is open to men and women, pays twenty thousands pounds sterling a year, plus board and accommodation in the college and a ticket home.

As for disciplines, they are looking for mainstream subjects such as English, History and the Sciences.

Applications must include a full curriculum vitae, a short personal statement, and the names and addresses of two professor who will recommend you. Please submit these to the Office of the Provost by January 14th, 2008. The Office of the Provost will chose applications to submit to the Headmaster of Winchester who will make the final choice.

Winchester College was founded in 1382 by William of Wykeham, Bishop of Winchester and founder of New College Oxford, with which the college enjoys a close relationship.

wykehamIt is a boys' boarding school of 700, situated in beautiful surrounds sixty miles southwest of London. The city of Winchester is the ancient capital of England, and it is therefore of great historical interest.

Wykeham Studentships are tenable for up to two years, and are open to undergraduates in their final year, or to graduate students who seek an opportunity to learn to teach their academic discipline to intelligent boys and participate in the School's porting and co-curricular programme. Wykeham Students come to Winchester as ambassadors of their university and their country.
