in environmental public policy or be a Native American or an Alaska
Native and have demonstrated interest in a career in health care or
tribal public policy.
Criteria
Udall Scholars are
expected to have a strong commitment to the pursuit of a career related
to improving or preserving the environment (Native American of Alaska
Native candidates are expected to have a strong commitment to the
pursuit of a career in any area of health care or tribal public policy)
and have the potential for significant future contribution to his
chosen field.
Application
Process
Persons interested in applying for
a Morris K. Udall Scholarship must submit an application form,
available
on this web site, to the Boston University Office of the Provost, One Sherborn Street,
8th Floor. Late or incomplete applications
will not be accepted. Applications will be considered by the Boston
University
Fellowship and Scholarship Committee. The Committee will recommend
candidates to the President for nomination by the University. Only
applicants nominated by the University can proceed with the competition.
After nomination by the University,
applications will be forwarded to the Morris K. Udall Scholarship
and Excellence in National Environmental Policy Foundation for consideration.
A distinguished committee of educators, deans, and faculty members
will review the nominee's credentials and recommend a pool of qualified
individuals to the Board of Trustees of the Udall Foundation. The
Trustees will make the final selections.
Award
Value and Conditions
The scholarship covers eligible expenses
for tuition, fees, books, and room and board to a maximum of $5,000
for one academic year.
