The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace is an educational organization that conducts programs of research, discussion, publication, and education in international relations and U.S. foreign policy. The Endowment provides up to twelve junior fellowships to recent graduates who desire careers in international affairs. Junior Fellows provide research assistance in Washington, DC to Associates working on non-proliferation, democracy, international economics, immigration, and regional issues throughout the world. Junior Fellows assigned to Foreign Policy magazine work as editorial assistants and participate in all aspects of the magazine production. Fellows receive monthly compensation of $2,583 plus benefits include medical, dental, and life insurance. A $400 relocation reimbursement will also be provided to individuals relocating to the Washington, DC area. Fellowships begin in June of each year. All Junior Fellows are hired for a period of approximately one year.
Boston University may nominate two students for the Carnegie Endowment's Junior Fellows Program. Applications are accepted only from graduating college seniors or individuals that have graduated within the past academic year who earned a cumulative grade point average in excess of 3.5. No one will be considered who has started graduate studies. Applicants must have completed a significant amount of coursework in the area of international affairs or economics. Application Process There is no standard application form; however, applicants must submit all of the following material to the Office of the Provost, One Sherborn Street, 8th floor, Boston, MA 02215, by December 4, 2005: 1. Application form (avialable in the Provost's Office). 2. One to two page resume or background statement (include telephone number, address, date of availability, extra-curricular activities and work experience). 3. Two recommendations, at least one of which should be from a professor of the student's major department. 4. Transcript of undergraduate records. 5. Two essay, the topics of which are selected annually in the fall.The essays should be thought pieces, not research papers. Further information about Carnegie Endowment for International Peace Fellowships can be obtained from the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace web site. Applications will be considered by the Boston University Fellowship and Scholarship Committee. The Committee will invite finalists for interview and recommend candidates to the Provost for endorsement by the University. Only applicants endorsed by the University will be invited to apply to the Endowment. |
