Regulation No. 7/52/PBI/2005 Concerning Operation of Card-Based Payment Instrument Activities, issued by Bank Indonesia, extensively regulates the issuance of credit cards by banks and non-bank institutions in Indonesia. The regulation contains many consumer protection provisions that enhance security, protect cardholder confidential information, and emphasize transparency in credit card marketing and cardholder agreements. Circular No. 7/60/DASP sets out detailed standards for implementation of the consumer protection and prudential principles in the act.
