About BU

Boston University is one of the leading private research and teaching institutions in the world today, with two primary campuses in the heart of Boston and programs around the world. Our campus is located along the banks of the Charles River and adjacent to the historic Back Bay district of Boston. What is BU Central?

Created in 2004, BU Central is Boston University's late-night entertainment venue. Located in the George Sherman Student Union - the hub of campus life on the Charles River Campus - BU Central has quickly become one of Boston's premiere music and comedy venues. The space is operated by the Student Activities Office.

Over 10,200 students enjoyed evening programs in BU Central in its inaugural season. Average attendance per event has grown exponentially over the past two years., and coming into our fourth season, we expect a similar pattern. In addition, over 20,000 individuals enter BU Central each year during day-time hours to utilize the room as a lounge and recreation area.
