Internships at Boston University’s Campus in Brussels
In addition to taking BU’s academically challenging graduate courses in Brussels, U.S. students are encouraged to enhance their résumés by gaining valuable work experience at an international organization.
Internship Opportunities
Brussels is host to the EU institutions, NATO, diplomatic missions, and NGOs—as well as being the European headquarters of many large organizations whose main objective is to lobby the EU.
NATO offers 50 internships every year and receives approximately four thousand applications from students around the world. BU in Brussels is pleased to offer students who are U.S. citizens the opportunity to apply for dedicated internships with the U.S. Mission to NATO—a particularly prestigious and competitive opportunity that is highly regarded by all those who undertake internships with NATO.
In addition, the chance to serve as an intern at other European, international and multinational, Brussels-based organizations is available through BU’s network of contacts: Positions with an MEP (Member of the European Parliament), MasterCard, UPS, or a regional representation are all possible while studying in Brussels.
Prospective Brussels-based interns should note that very few paid positions are available; however, once a student has his or her “foot in the door,” it is often possible to network one’s way to a more permanent job.
