Poland! O Poland!" by Juliusz Slowacki

O! Poland! Poland! Holy! Pious!
When sometime you are bright and at peace
Turn your radiant eyes
Upon our graves, where the bugs consume us;
Where the urns holding our ashes under spring willows
Have hid themselves to brood like somnolent swans;
My Poland! When we are no longer conscious . . .
Think of us! O! Think!
We have even made your name
A prayer, that cries, and lightning, that flashes.
Yet enough, that you pause to consider,
The silence on our graves,
How it seems of God accursed;
But do not forget us, O! Holy!
