Discovered
Translated by Jennifer Berlin
I went forth into the woods
solely for myself,
seeking nothing,
in the spirit of whim.
In shadows I saw
a flower standing,
as luminous as stars,
like shining eyes.
I bent to pluck it
when it softly said,
Shall I wilt, picked
only to be broken?
I dug it out, gathered
all the tangled roots,
returned with it to the
garden at the house,
and returned it to soil
in a peaceful corner
where it flourishes
and brings forth blooms.
