Dr. Vaina's research interests are computational visual neuroscience, biological and computational learning, and functional and structural neuroimaging.

Her recent research has involved:

 Computational, psychophysical, and structural models of visual motion analysis in the human brain;

 Partial akinetopsia: Selective motion deficits after stroke in humans;

 Functional plasticity: Learning and neurorecovery; and,

 fMRI of the human visual system.
