The Workshops
Beginning with in-school workshops:
The process begins with a visit from a professional playwright who will work with up to twenty students over the course of a two-day intensive workshop.
Day 1 is devoted to writing exercises intended to introduce playwriting fundamentals.
Day 2, which may be scheduled at any time, is devoted to reading and giving feedback on each of the plays.

Ultimately, these plays are submitted to a selection committee which will designate a Featured and a Finalist play. Featured authors will be contacted by their professional director who may also act as a dramaturg leading up to, and on the day of, the festival. All students who participate in the Project are urged to attend the festival in the Spring.
