Accessibility

Boston Playwrights’ Theatre wants to make our space available to all theatre-goers. However, our older building does offer some limitations. If you or a member of your party have mobility issues, please call us in advance to plan your visit at 617-353-5443.

Entrance

We have a long ramp up to the front door. Please note that the grade is steep and the threshold is slightly raised. For this reason we encourage anyone with mobility concerns to bring an attendant. The additional ticket will be complimentary. If an attendant is not available, please call in advance, and one of our visiting theatres’ staff will meet you at the ramp to help you in or out of the theatre. Wheelchair patrons have enjoyed productions at Boston Playwrights’ Theatre.

Restroom

One unisex bathroom is accessible.

Seating

All seats are removable at Boston Playwrights’ Theatre. If you need extra space, please let us know in advance. Wheelchairs can only be positioned in the front row of either black box space (the Walcott or Odyssey theatres). Please let us know if you use a wheelchair, and we will reserve as many seats near that space as your party requires.

Hearing

Currently we do not offer ASL-interpreted productions. Please contact us if you’d like to see this offered in future seasons.

Headset Requests

We do not offer headsets, and our actors are typically not miked. The space is intimate, and we are happy to reserve front-row seats for you.

Special Chairs

Our seats are made of hard plastic. Patrons suffering from chronic back problems should bring a pillow to increase comfort. Unfortunately, our small aisles do not allow us to bring in larger or more comfortable seating.

Front-Row Requests

If for any reason, you can enjoy the performance from only the front row, please let us know directly at 617-353-5443.
