Auditions: We host and attend the annual StageSource Summer Regional Auditions.
In the Spring, we focus all our
efforts on bringing together the Boston Theater Marathon. If you would
like to volunteer to act in the marathon, you will need to contact each
producing company separately (50 plays, 50 different producing companies). Each company
and casting information will be listed in late February/early March on
the Boston Theater Marathon Website.
Volunteers:
Administrative Volunteer
Boston Playwrights' Theatre
He or she will provide administrative support to the Managing Director, Program Coordinator and Artistic Director of Boston Playwrights’ Theatre. Major responsibilities would include, filing, answering phone, light paperwork, responding to emails and general office duties. We are seeking an individual who is willing to work collaboratively to benefit the objectives of the theatre. Must be flexible, willing to learn and have a good sense of humor. This is a great opportunity for an individual to work in a professional theatre environment. This is an unpaid volunteer position from September 2008 through May 2009; flexible 10-15 hours per week. Located on the campus of Boston University, 949 Commonwealth Avenue.

Internships:
Development Intern
Boston Playwrights’ Theatre
Dates: September 2008-December 2008
Description: He or she will provide administrative support to the Managing Director, Program Coordinator and Artistic Director of Boston Playwrights’ Theatre. Major responsibilities will include preparation and execution of our yearly donor banquet in December, donor/audience relations and researching grant and corporate sponsorship opportunities. We are seeking an intern who is willing to work collaboratively to benefit the objectives of the theatre. Must be flexible, willing to learn and have a good sense of humor. This is a great opportunity for an individual to gain fundraising, arts administration and development experience in a professional theatre environment. This is an unpaid internship; 10-15 hours per week. Located on the campus of Boston University, 949 Commonwealth Ave. Interns will be invited back to participate in the Boston Theater Marathon during the spring semester.
Marketing and Administrative Intern
Boston Playwrights’ Theatre
Dates: September 2008-December 2008
Description: He or she will provide administrative support to the Managing Director, Program Coordinator and Artistic Director of Boston Playwrights’ Theatre. Major responsibilities will include reviewing and implementing marketing strategies with the Managing Director and Program Coordinator. Help create successful marketing strategies for fiscal year 2008. Other responsibilities include audience development, group and subscription sales, promotional event preparation, filing, answering phone, light paperwork, responding to emails and general office duties. He or she will also assist office staff in the day-to-day operations of the theatre. We are seeking an intern who is willing to work collaboratively to benefit the objectives of the theatre. Must be flexible, willing to learn and have a good sense of humor. This is a great opportunity for an individual to gain marketing, promotions and arts administration experience in a professional theatre environment. This is an unpaid internship; 10-15 hours per week. Located on the campus of Boston University, 949 Commonwealth Ave. Interns will be invited back to participate in the Boston Theater Marathon during the spring semester.
Web Design and Multimedia Intern
Boston Playwrights’ Theatre
Dates: September 2008-December 2008
Description: He or she will work to develop bostonplaywrights.org into a multifaceted portal for new plays in Boston. He or she will also assist the Program Coordinator in developing an interactive design for the web that may include: Podcasts, online commercials, interviews, etc. The position will be built on the interest and strengths of the applicant. We are seeking an intern who is willing to work collaboratively to benefit the objectives of the theatre. Must be flexible, willing to learn and have a good sense of humor. This is a great opportunity for an individual to gain experience in a professional theatre environment. This is an unpaid internship; flexible hours. Located on the campus of Boston University, 949 Commonwealth Ave. Interns will be invited back to participate in the Boston Theater Marathon during the spring semester.
