Privacy Notice - We reserve the right to occasionally trade patrons' postal mailing information with theatre colleagues who are producing new plays, such as another local production company using our space, or one of our playwriting alumni. * Note Regarding Play Submission Inquiries
The only full-length plays that BPT produces are written by alumni of our Graduate Playwriting Program. Our theatre is funded by and is entirely part of the Creative Writing Program in the English Department at Boston University. (*Note - We are not the theatre program - we train writers, not actors.) Please review the Graduate Program section of our website. We welcome your inquiries about this rewarding and intensive program.
We host an annual ten-minute play competition open to all New England residents. The 50 winners are each produced by different New England theatre companies in May in the Boston Theater Marathon. This is a wonderful chance to have your work seen by the entire New England theatre community. Please check the Marathon site for submission requirements.
We donate our space to other theatre companies who produce new work. If another company would like to produce your show, please submit a proposal in January for the following Fall/Spring to our mailing address. We may be able to host the production in our space.
We highly recommend that all playwrights and New England theatre professionals check out The Source - the theatre phone book and information published by StageSource (www.stagesource.org). Often, theatre companies listed in The Source describe whether they accept submissions of new work.
