Now that the polar vortex has moved on, taking with it the arctic blast that has gripped Boston for most of the week, it’s time to head back outdoors. Meteorologists expect temperatures to reach a balmy 55 degrees on Saturday, January 11, just in time for BU’s annual Winterfest celebration, taking place all day on and around the Charles River Campus.
Sponsored by the BU Alumni Association (BUAA), Winterfest, now in its ninth year, promises events for alumni, students, faculty, staff, and their families.
The highlight of the event is Frozen Fenway: the Terrier men’s hockey team will face off against the University of Maine at Fenway Park, which has been turned into an ice rink this winter. The game begins at 3 p.m. Tickets start at $20, and are available here.
The Frozen Fenway event kicks off with a pregame party, starting at noon at the Center for Student Services Marciano Commons. The party will include lunch and drinks and feature the band East Coast Soul. Tickets are available here.
Other Winterfest activities include a French cooking demonstration, an ice-sculpting competition, a broomball tourney between students and alumni, a mixology class on how to make winter cocktails, and a women’s basketball game (against Lafayette) at Case Gym. And for the more active, there will be a body conditioning class at FitRec in the morning and family rock climbing there in the afternoon.
Winterfest takes place January 11 on the Charles River Campus. A complete schedule of events is here. Register for events in advance here.
