Bostonia is published in print three times a year and updated weekly on the web.
Erik Rojas (COM’14) and Chris Roewe (COM’14) graduated from BU last May with abiding affection for the city they called home for four years.
During their last semester, the two film majors combined their love of Beantown and their love of filmmaking and produced a five-minute time-lapse video titled Moving Portrait: Boston. Set to music by the band Explosions in the Sky, the project captures scenes of Fenway Park, this year’s Boston Marathon, boats floating in Boston Harbor, and a bustling Commonwealth Avenue.
Since it was posted on Vimeo in early June, the video has been viewed more than 40,000 times. It got a big boost after being posted on Boston magazine’s website. “I’m in shock because we did it as kind of a personal thing,” says Rojas. “It was challenging at times—shooting in the cold and not being able to hold the camera because our hands were freezing, going to the top of StuVi at 4 a.m. to get the sunrise. But we loved every minute of it.”
William, why don’t you produce a warmer video yourself?
I thought the video was cold, mechanical and shallow. How about the tone and textures of Beacon Hill, the nature of the architecture on Commonwealth Ave. and all the other aspects of the city which students loved? Please try again. Thank you for your work, William
I COULDN’T FIND ANYTHING DONE BY YOU. Video above is very well done. Good JOB MR Rojas and MR Roewe!
I think the video is excellent and well done. I was looking for something that you had done and I couldn’t find ANYTHING!
